Thomas E. Morrill, APRN

  • Tom is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse who joined AnewU Recovery In 2018.

  • Masters in Nursing with an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner specialty from South University

  • Becoming a Nurse Practitioner was a life long dream which he finally undertook after completing a 32 year career with the US Air Force.

  • Certified Addiction Professional (CAP) and International Certification for Reciprocal Certification as an  Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ICADC) through the Florida Certification Board.  Tom is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, International Society of Nurses of Addiction, the American Association of Christian Counselors,  and an Associate Member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine.

  • His interest in addiction medicine stems from experience in alcohol rehabilitation as a registered nurse and determination to help individuals rid themselves of reliance and substances and return to emotionally fulfilling and productive lives.

  • In his free time Tom prefers to travel, fish, read, and spend time with his grandchildren.

Jose Alvarez-Bernal, M.D.

  • Dr. Alvarez has been serving the Tampa bay community for over thirty years as a physician.

  • Dr. Alvarez has been with our clinic for 8 years and started here to help make an impact on the opiate crisis. He hated seeing how many lives were being ruined and made the decision to step in and make a difference.

  • He's very family oriented, they also have built their lives and businesses in our community giving him all the more reason to fight to make a difference.

  • He's a firm believer that a patient must be ready and willing to commit fully to the treatment program if real progress is to be made, He encourages patients to find their motivation for a sober life and build your treatment around it.

  • Most of his free time is spent with family and friends.

Alexis Henderson, M.D.

  • Dr. Henderson has an extensive background in family medicine, roughly 30 years. 

  • Dr. Henderson saw an underserved population when it came to opiate addiction and she wanted to make an impact on her community.

  • She's been a part of both our Tampa and Clearwater offices and has dedicated her time here to encouraging positive change.

  • "Patients need to be treated as an individual who's been impacted by an economic, social or physical issue not some textbook case of addiction and a standard one size fits all style treatment program"

  • Dr. Henderson Has 5 Children (4 boys one Girl) and is originally from St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands

  • Dr. Henderson is an avid reader and enjoys gardening on her free time and when asked with one word describe yourself she choose empathetic.

Joseph J. Fastaia, M.D.

  • Dr. Fastaia serves as our medical director here at ANewU, and has been with us since the 1st day we opened.

  • Dr. Fastaia got into this businesses because he saw first hand the damage that pain medicine had caused our community and wanted to take action.

  • He'll occasionally see patients in Tampa but spends most of his time in Clearwater. 

  • He is a very positive and personable, he loves to build a relationship with a patient so that they build trust with him. From there they're able to go through the the program knowing he wants nothing but the best for them and will help mentor them every step of the way.

  • Dr. Fastaia is quite the comedian so expect a good laugh.
